Rap superstar Kanye West on Tuesday delivered a surprise even in this most unusual of political years — he met President-elect Donald Trump, marking the artist’s first appearance since a reported mental breakdown.

West, a rare US celebrity to voice support for Donald Trump, showed up in the early morning with an entourage and his own cameraman at Trump Tower and boarded the elevator of the tycoon’s skyscraper home.

Recession ‘ll end in 2017 – FG


Despite all the challenges facing Nigeria, the ongoing economic recession would end in 2017 because the foundation for a diversified economy was already being laid, the Federal Government assured on Tuesday.
The government also premised its optimism on the fact that “the 2017 budget will strengthen the economy further.”

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, expressed this optimism when he received a delegation from the Methodist Church of Nigeria led by the Archbishop of Abuja, the Most Reverend Joseph Oche Job.

Man who dissolved police officer in acid jailed for life


Man who killed a police officer during a bondage sex session and then attempted to cook and eat his body parts has been jailed for life by a judge in London.

Judge Nicholas Hilliard sentenced Stefano Brizzi on Monday to life in prison with at least 24 years to serve for killing 59-year-old Gordon Semple, whose dissolving body was found in an acid bath, according to ABCnews.

The Defence Headquarters has urged Nigerians to be wary as fleeing members of the Boko Haram terrorists from the Sambisa forest now disguise themselves as menial workers, infiltrating villages in the North East.

A statement by the acting defence spokesman, Gen. Rabe Abubakar on Tuesday in Abuja, said the escaping terrorists did that to attack communities and towns in the region.

A man has attempted to commit suicide in Benue State by ingesting insecticide after Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox froze accounts of participants in the Ponzi scheme, two weeks to his wedding.

The development which has led to panic among millions in the country hit the man, identified as Adakole, hard as he had reportedly invested N300,000 meant for his wedding in the scheme.

Mavrodi Mondial Movement, known simply as MMM, has frozen accounts of participants, sparking fears that the Ponzi scheme has crashed.

The Ponzi scheme, which has since been declared illegal by the Federal Government, in a message to participants, confirmed that it has frozen all accounts.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday admitted that the leadership of the All Progressives Party has made a lot of mistakes which the party was making efforts to address.

Dogara said that it would amount to self-deceit for the party to assume that mistakes had not been made when plenty of such mistakes had been recorded in the party.

FG to increase salaries next year – Ngige


The Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, has assured  Nigerian workers of a pay rise next year.

Ngige stated this in Awka, the Anambra  State capital in an interactive session with journalists on Tuesday.
He said the various committees handling the minimum wage issue were working to arrive at something.

Clearing agent arrested for hiding N4bn drug in hair


A 42-year-old clearing agent, Daniel Unegbu, has been arrested in connection with 83.4 kilogrammes of drug that tested positive for ephedrine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos State.

Unegbu was apprehended with two other suspects –Joseph Ettah, 28, and Bright Wopara, 31 – by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the airport.
